Participation in the conference Development Prospects of Gas Separation Technologies Using Russian-made Membranes

3 November 2023

Under the business program at Petersburg International Gas Forum 2023, Scientific-practical conference Development Prospects of Gas Separation Technologies Using Russian-made Memebranes was held. The event organizers are Gazprom Proektirovanie LLC, Russian Gas Society.

With the key focus on:

  • membrane technologies for target component recovery from natural gas and liquid fluid handling;
  • manufacture of Russian-made membrane elements.

The conference participants discussed the results of scientific research, development and manufacture of membrane elements and membrane technologies, in addition to making a point of the development prospects of membrane technology using Russian-made membranes.

Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Kotenko, Head of Grasys Hydrocarbon Technologies, made a presentation on JSC Grasys Experience in Building and Operating Membrane Gas Separation Units. Development Prospects. As a reminder, Aleksandr Aleksandrovich mentioned that when the company was established in 2001 membrane gas separation was the main business line, and it still remains R&P Co. Grasys major activity.

The key company’s focus area is the development and manufacture of membrane units to concentrate and recover the desired gases, as well as to remove contaminating impurities, primarily applicable to membrane air separation, gas separation of hydrocarbon mixtures, including helium recovery and carbon dioxide removal from natural gas, hydrogen recovery and concentration at the gas and petrochemical facilities.

Launched in 2020, the Grasys manufacturing facility in Dubna is the only in Russia and the CIS, integrated business specializing in manufacturing hollow fiber gas separation membrane elements (cartridges) from own-produced hollow fiber membranes. R&P Co. Grasys is experienced in implementing a vast number of projects using membrane technology in Russia and abroad. The list of the company's customers comprises leading gas companies, oil companies as well as oil-and-gas operators in the Russian Federation. So, for example, units that enable to recover helium from natural gas are already successfully running at the Chayanda and Kovykta fields.
