The gas processing plant will process 17.5 million m3/year of the permeate stream formed during purification of natural gas and associated petroleum gas (APG).
Bashneft (part of Rosneft) started a new high-tech unit for permeate (acid gas) processing at automated gas treatment complex located at the Metelinskoye field in Bashkortostan. The development of technological potential is one of the key strategic elements of Rosneft. The company places a priority to innovative activities and identifies technological leadership as a core driver of competitive strength in the oil market.
The commissioning of the second stage of the complex enabled to double production of commercial gas through the APG involvement in the production, as well as the production of high-purity mixture of natural gas and APG. A part of the produced gas is sent to consumers while the other serves as fuel to generate its own electricity at the Metel gas piston power plant (GPPP) that generates electricity of over 75 million kWh/year. This ensures the equipment operation at the company’s Arlanskoye and Naratovskoye fields in the Krasnokamsk region of the republic.
Through the start of the final stage of the gas treatment complex the environment footprint will be reduced whereas industrial and household consumers will be provided with more eco-friendly fuel. Furthermore, introduction of the improved process cycle will ensure the level of APG beneficial use at the Metelinskoye field of over 96%.
The membrane gas treatment unit at the Metelinskoye field has been developed and manufactured by R&P Co. Grasys.
The supplied equipment includes:
Grasys membrane hydrocarbon units enable to significantly adjust the associated petroleum gas properties by removing a substantial portion of heavy hydrocarbons (C4+). In doing so, methane is concentrated with minimal pressure loss in the target stream, which is of particular importance when treating APG to meet the gas transmission network requirements and fuel gas requirements for gas turbine power plants. In addition, just as importantly, membrane units are instrumental in reducing sulfur-bearing impurities in fuel gas, and complete excluding aerosols, droplets of moisture and solid particles available therein.
The fuel gas treatment degree can vary substantially depending on the feed gas composition and treated gas requirements. The R&P Co. Grasys integrated solution ensures associated petroleum gas treatment to meet fuel gas requirements as to hydrogen sulfide.
